TopicTowards High Efficiency and Low-cost Photovoltaic Devices - Perovskites and Quantum Dots

Time10:00 AM, May 22nd (Tuesday)

Abstract:

The past few years have seen the uniquely rapid development of solution-processed photovoltaic devices, including lead halide perovskite and colloidal quantum dot solar cells, with a record efficiency at 22.7% and 13.4%, respectively. This talk will review our recent work on both areas. For perovskite, our focuses are in the advancement of understanding of the degradation mechanisms; improvement of both stability and efficiency; development of scaling up processes; as well as development of tandem technology on Si. For the colloidal quantum dot work, I will present the development of a novel ion exchange process for surface passivation leading to the highest reported efficiency of PbSe solar cells. Other work on optimization of carrier transport layers for PbS quantum dot devices will also be presented.
