报告题目Interfacial solar evaporation: fundament research and practical applications

报告摘要:

Interfacial solar evaporation is a sustainable technology for clean water production since it solely utilizes solar light as the energy source. The working mechanism of interfacial solar evaporation involves sunlight absorption, photothermal conversion, heat localization and interfacial water evaporation. To facilitate real-world applications, it is required to improve the energy efficiency of interfacial solar evaporation. Energy and mass management during solar evaporation is one of the most important and effective strategies to improve evaporation performance. The ideal solar evaporation system should have minimum energy, maximum extra energy gain from the surrounding environment and optimized mass flow. This can be realized by rational design of the structure and configuration of the photothermal evaporators. In this presentation, novel design of photothermal evaporators to simultaneously decrease energy loss, increase light absorption and energy harvesting from the surrounding environment and energy recycling for solar steam generation will be introduced. The research towards solving practical issues, and the application of this technology in seawater desalination and industry wastewater treatment will also be introduced.



个人简介

Dr Haolan Xu is a Professor at Future Industries Institute, Adelaide University. He received his PhD degree from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008. He was then awarded Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and studied at Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Germany. He joined University of South Australia in 2011 and was awarded ARC DECRA in 2012, UniSA Foundation Fellow in 2015, and ARC Future Fellow in 2020. He joined Adelaide University in 2026. His current research interest includes solar-thermal energy conversion and applications, and surface/interface physical chemistry. He has 7 patents and published >150 research papers in Nature Water, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, Angewandte Chemie-International Edition, Science Bulletin, with total citation > 20000 and h-index of 72 (Google scholar). He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher.
