报告摘要:

Artificial intelligence has greatly advanced machines’ intellectual capabilities, yet their physical capabilities remain limited. Expanding robots beyond factories into healthcare, domestic services, environmental management, and logistics requires robotic materials that are capable, adaptive, sustainable, and economically viable. Three key concepts towards general utility are presented in this talk: 1) high-capacity, multifunctional robotic materials, where the focus is on how light enables advanced tactile sensing to restore the missing sense in robots; 2) adaptive, sustainable robotic materials, introducing how vitrimers could lead to robots that self-heal, reconfigure, and eventually have a closed-loop lifecycle; 3) soft robotic bioelectronics, demonstrating how the integration of soft robotic and bioelectronic technologies may broadly address unmet clinical needs.

个人简介 :

Hedan Bai is the Assistant Professor of the Robotic Materials lab at ETH Zurich Department of Materials. Her research interests focus on i) bottom-up development of new materials and mechanisms to empower soft materials with unusual robotic and bioelectronic functions; and ii) top-down device development for translational applications that demand novel form of devices, such as minimally invasive surgeries. Dr. Bai is an ERC Starting Grant awardee (ColorfulAct, 2025) and Cornell Commercialization Fellow. Before joining ETH, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University (2021-2023). She obtained her PhD and BS at Cornell University (2012-2021).
