Presenter:Prof. Dr.Stanislav Fedotov (Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, Russia)
Topic:Sodium-ion batteries: new electrode materials and chemistries
Time:September 24, 15:30 (Thursday)
Location:909-B
Abstract:
Alongside lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) based on abundant raw materials are promising for stationary storage, electric transport, and low-temperature applications. Advancing SIB technology requires systems capable of simultaneously delivering competitive energy density, high-rate capability, safety, extended cycle life, and scalable manufacturing. This talk overviews recent advances in SIB chemistries, focusing on polyanionic and layered oxide cathodes, carbon based and alloying anodes, and electrolytes for interphase and full cell stability. Special attention is given to correlations among crystal chemistry, Na-ion migration, transition-metal redox, and structural transformations, concluding with the pathway from materials design to practical full cell prototypes.
